Who can volunteer?

Anyone - Men, women, students or teens! If you can show up and lend a hand, you belong in the kitchen. No cooking experience needed.

What happens at a Kitchen of Kindness session?

Volunteers work in groups to prepare a few different dishes - recipes, ingredients, and directions are provided. Volunteers then package the meals and write short cards to go along with each Kindness meal.

Who are the meals for?

The meals go to people in the community who could use support and care. It’s our way of letting someone know, “You’re not alone. Someone out there is thinking about you.” For some, it may be a one-off gesture at just the right moment. Others, particularly those who are elderly or homebound, may receive a meal more often.

Can I refer someone to receive a meal?

Yes. If you know someone who would appreciate a meal, let us know.

Is this only for people who are struggling financially?

No. This is about community. Sometimes a meal is not about money, it’s about feeling remembered, supported, and cared for.

Can I order a Kindness meal for myself?

Kitchen of Kindness is not a meal-ordering service. Kindness Meals are completely free and are given as a gift - a hug from the community in the form of a home-cooked meal. This is made possible thanks to a generous grant from the HLH Trust. Recipients are usually nominated by a friend, family member, or neighbour who feels they could use a little extra care and support. You are also welcome to let us know if you feel you would benefit from a Kindness Meal yourself; however, as these meals are gifts rather than orders, we cannot guarantee a meal or regular delivery.

If you are looking for a service where you can order freshly cooked meals whenever you need them, Chabadeli offers a range of meals prepared weekly.

Do I need to be part of the Chabad community to volunteer?

No. Kitchen of Kindness is open to everyone who wants to help.

Do I need cooking experience to volunteer?

Not at all. There’s always something to do, chopping, packing, labeling, setting up, cleaning, or organizing. There is also the option to volunteer as a driver to do meal deliveries. Volunteers can do either cooking, delivering, or both.

Where does the cooking take place?

We run Kitchen of Kindness sessions at the Water Garden Hotel, 2B Annerley Road, BH1 3PG.

How often does Kitchen of Kindness happen?

Session run on alternating Wednesdays at 2 PM. The first session will be on 9 September.

Can I sponsor a cooking session or a set of meals?

Yes. Sponsorship is a meaningful way to support the program. Reach out and we’ll share options.
